The Oak Ridge Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is named Administrator of the Sallie McCaskill Scholarship Program
The Sallie McCaskill Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in early 1993 to honor a long-time Oak Ridge resident, who worked very hard to secure educational opportunities for children and adults in the historically African-American community. She arranged tutoring for many children and encouraged people to take advantage of educational opportunities. Since the scholarship program began, forty-six Oak Ridge High School seniors have been selected as scholarship winners. We are proud to work with the Sallie McCaskill Scholarship Committee.
Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy - is designed for girls ages 11-14 years old who have potential and are interested in developing their leadership skills, but limited opportunity to achieve success; who express an interest in math, science, technology or careers that are considered non-traditional; and who enjoy learning new things.
The symbol for the Delta Academy is the Dream Catcher. A Dream Catcher in Native American culture is believed to possess the power to capture bad dreams entangling them in the web, thus allowing only the good dreams to pass through to the center of the dream hoop into the person's being. Service projects are key.

The Delta GEMS (GROWING AND EMPOWERING MYSELF SUCCESSFULLY) Program
formerly known as the TeenLift Program - is an extension of the Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy I Program. The Delta GEMS Program arose from the Delta Academy II with a focus on teenage girls between the ages of 14-18 and/or grades 9-12. Delta GEMS uses the polished jewels as a symbol of the many facets that shine and glow within our young African-American women. The goal of the program is to develop strong, confident and respectful young ladies and prepare them to take an active role in their success and society. The Delta GEMS is designed to serve as a motivational tool targeting African American female teenagers resulting in an increased knowledge and awareness of issues and concerns affecting women today.

The slogan "Invest in Education" was adopted, and a week in May is set aside for programs highlighting academic and professional achievement.

The street called Wilberforce Avenue in Oak Ridge, Tennessee is the entryway to the Scarboro Community, a predominantly African-American area. Every month, members of the sorority don orange vests, gather plastic garbage bags, and render their pick-up tools. These dedicated volunteers walk the roadway clearing away trash, fast food debris, bottles, waste cans, and other litter thrown carelessly away. The Adopt-A-Street program results in a visible improvement to a well-traveled road in the city of Oak Ridge. It also provides an opportunity for valuable community service by sorors and youth volunteers from partner organizations such as Jack & Jill of America.

Soror Yolanda Childs has championed and led this program since its inception.
The Delta Sister Warrior Girl Team
has participated since 2001 in the Susan Komen Race for the Cure supporting breast cancer research and saluting survivors. Participants walk or run the 3K or 1 mile route, raising funds as they improve their fitness. This event is a chance for several chapters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. to meet up for a good community cause.

Sorors from many chapters meet, greet, and walk together during this annual event in Knoxville, Tennessee.
